[OOC]
Backtagging: sure!
Threadhopping: sure!
Fourthwalling: OKAY so this is a tricky bit. you're free to recognize Veronica if your character is into cult classics, tho they might wonder why she does not look like Winona Ryder. pls don't tell her about the musical.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): other than non-con I am chill.

[IC]
Hugging this character: sure!
Kissing this character: haha ok sport but don't expect her to be happy with it.
Flirting with this character: sure I guess, but she's not exactly into being flirted with.
Fighting with this character: YES DO IT
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): we can talk this out on a case by case basis, but as a general rule I'm fine with anything except injuries to the eyes. it's just a squick.
Killing this character: let's talk this out on a case by case basis. generally pls don't go and murder her unless I've said so while plotting for events.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: haha sure why not! as a note, though, Veronica's head is not a fun place to be in. there's the occasional hallucination of Heather Chandler, Kurt Kelly, and Ram Sweeney, there's her crushing guilt and self-hatred, there's a mix of grief and anger about JD—she's kind of incredibly traumatized. also she has a diary, so even non-telepathic characters might be able to figure out what she's feeling re: things.

Warnings: Heathers is a canon that, in both movie and musical forms, brings up some very sensitive subject matter and treats them very flippantly most of the time. murder and suicide (faked, attempted, and real) are the most obvious warnings, but Veronica also has also encountered unhealthy relationships, mental health issues (ie PTSD), bullying, underage drinking, attempted date rape, and her very own hallucinations of her dead classmates. there's a chance she might end up referring to these in her tags in an oblique way, but I'll try to tread carefully around them.

Power: See the Me Inside of Me:
thanks to MOM, Veronica now has the ability to see or hear other people's guilt, in the form of who knows what, and in exchange other people get to see her guilt manifesting in the form of her ghosts! however, this ability is tied into her emotional state, and will only activate if she's in emotional turmoil. what this means for your character is that Veronica, by default, will not see any dark and dirty secrets they might have right off the bat, and even if she does, there's no guarantee she'll be able to understand it. see, how she sees a character's guilt is up to you! for example: if she runs into, say, Bucky Barnes, she might only be able to see flashes of some incredibly gory scenes of death and torture and won't be able to string them into a coherent picture.

meanwhile Bucky's going to wonder why this kid has another kid in a red nightgown and two guys in their skivvies taunting her.

you can even opt out of this power if you wish! we can handwave a reason as to why it doesn't work. I've even prepared a handy form.

Character name: Cassian Andor
Canon: Star Wars (Rogue One)
Does your character have any guilt over something? UM YES. (Having been a spy and assassin.)
Can Veronica see or hear your character's guilt? HECK YEAH, I'm a sucker for stuff like this ^_^
How will this guilt manifest? HAHAH OH ALL THE POSSIBILITIES… gosh… I'll likewise give a smorsgasboard of possibilities and you can use whatever grabs your fancy of a given moment? Sometimes the way Cassian sees himself is very warped/dysmorphic; one dream!Cassian would be taller/broader/older/stronger than he actually is, impossible to contain or stop, always looking angry and scary and violent, with his hair half burned away and literal blood on his hands; or he can look skeletal, gaunt, malnourished, younger and smaller and slighter than he really is, looking really haunted and useless powerless. Possible ghosts… canon: Tivik, with his arm in a sling, who always has a bewildered puppy dog look, whom Cassian intimately and comfortingly shot through the heart; Galen Erso who Cassian didn't actually kill but he came so close and will look even more like Jyn than he really did, in Cassian's mind; all the members of Rogue One Cassian personally recruited (he worked with and knew every one of them) for the suicide mission. Headcanon: MWAHA so many… alrighty: woman with long dark hair, permanently backlit, slightly though visibly pregnant, holding a personal detonator in her hand, with half her flesh blasted away a la Norse mythology's Hel; a handful of people who all appear together (all adult though of varying age/gender/species) who all have a cauterized but still-smoking blaster hole where their right eyeball should be; three children (one human, one Bothan [felinoid], one Twi'lek) all bloodied and missing limbs; someone who was drowned, someone who was garrotted, several who were beaten to a bloody pulp with a blunt instrument… most of them put in that state directly by Cassian's hands. Possible hallucinations: to distinguish from the ghosts of things he really did, let's make these fears of what he MIGHT do—mainly to Jyn. (Envisions himself raping, beating, and/or killing her; not because he wants to—he does not fucking want to—but because of the ambient, latent violence of his old life and what he knows he's capable of, was trained to do and was very good at; the simple possibility in reality being enough to terrify him, as if it could just happen if he doesn't make absolutely sure it doesn't.)
Which ghost will they see? I've only seen the movie not the musical, but I'd go for whichever of the guys Heather shot in the forest not realizing they were real bullets…?

…Damn, sorry also I didn't read the non-powers part of your permissions more carefully before doing the form. (Way to defeat the whole purpose, Merry…!!) The sniper victim ghosts fall right into your squick category. Really sorry!

Character name: Brendan Drye
Canon: Brick
Does your character have any guilt over something? Yes. So much.
Can Veronica see or hear your character's guilt? Yes.
How will this guilt manifest? Emily, the love of Brendan's life, is shot and left in a drain pipe at the start of the movie. It's canonical Brendan sat by the body for about twenty minutes in shock and he now associates the sound of the stream/running water with her, so there's that. Emily is a pale blonde girl with blue eyes who never stopped wearing the blue plastic bangles Brendan bought her when they were together and favors white; Veronica will see her crying or clutching her abdomen, saying 'whatever you gotta do to let me go, you gotta do it'. Another good sound to add to the auditory hallucinatory repertoire would be a payphone ringing.

Brendan was indirectly responsible for the death of The Pin, a gangster who he sort-of befriended. Since Brendan didn't see it directly (he was running the other way) Veronica should only hear a young man's voice desperately screaming Brendan's man, a gunshot and the sound of a cane and uneven footsteps. He's in shadow for most of his scenes, so I like the idea of him being half-glimpsed in the shadows around her, holding his cane.

Which ghost will they see? I'm a sadist so I'm tempted to say 'all three'. But I need to go watch Veronica's canon so for now we'll go with Heather since Brendan has some profound triggers when it comes to injured women and that'd get to him most effectively.

[personal profile] pale_blue_arrow 2017-05-10 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oddly enough, Emily's the one Brendan's better about talking about (since he didn't play a part in her death) so if Veronica mentioned it he'd probably explain/give context to that but the Pin, being a disabled young man whose death is on Brendan, is the one Brendan would not explain, or would barely explain, if Veronica inquired about him.

Oh great, Heather sounds like Brendan's other ex. This'll be fun, in the way watching a trainwreck is morbidly fun.

Character name: Mike Teavee
Canon: Charlie and The Chocolate Factory: The Musical.
Does your character have any guilt over something? Yes! Mike is not conciously aware of this, but he feels responsible for the fact that his dad walked out on him and his mom.
Can Veronica see or hear your character's guilt? Oh yes you can.
How will this guilt manifest? You get the ghost of Mrs. Teavee, who is played by Jackie Hoffman, which is in itself pretty much a description of her. Just picture a very dry, very drunk, very embarrassing mom, in a 1950's day dress and bouffant hair, who will sort of hover around him, looking like she wants to baby him, or making excuses for his behavior like: 'He just has low blood sugar'.
Which ghost will they see? I will pick Heather Chandler!

Character name: Jonathan Crane.
Canon: DC Nolanverse.
Does your character have any guilt over something? N - but I wish he did because this power is pretty neat.
Can Veronica see or hear your character's guilt? N because of above.

TL;DR Crane doesn't feel guilt for all he's done and because of experiences that have made him who he is that's likely not going to change. So if you ever want to explore Veronica seeing nothing - and wondering what that means - feel free to hit me up.

WELL there's some stuff in the works with some other CR, but if that comes through Crane'll be funning fear toxin therapy trails so that's one way to make this happen. Might not be for a short while, though. Since he's still needing to get his license back after he... did what he does best.

Yeah.

Character name: Jaime Reyes
Canon: DC Comics
Does your character have any guilt over something? Y
Can Veronica see or hear your character's guilt?Y
How will this guilt manifest? OKAY SO. Boy is DRIPPING IN GUILT.

EDDIE, NADIA, WONDER TWINS, NEGOTIATOR: Gotta love Jaime and his dead friends and foes! Eddie died in a plane-based explosion.

He failed to save Nadia when an invasion that was partially his fault attacked (and was further guilt tripped by her brother, Hector).

Wendy and Marvin were gored by a wild supernatural animal in Titans Tower and as a result, the former became a paraplegic and the latter died.

The Negotiator was killed in what was essentially a suicide bombing that Jaime did.

(And then there's his in-game pals, predominantly Tadashi Hamada, Shinji Aragaki, Minato Arisato and Wally West, because this game loves some dead dead teens.)

CHICAGO: Jaime was the present superhero for a nuclear blast! Over nine hundred people died in the blast, and hundreds more died afterwards of radioactive poisoning, and he definitely feels a great deal of guilt over not being able to stop it. This can manifest in the hallucination of a nuke, or the aftermath of what people look like after they've been nuked, or the images of the wreckage of Chicago. Whoops.

MONSTERBEETLE: his true form is a scary monster whoopsie-daisies.

Which ghost will they see? EITHER ONE. We can go for the dudes if you want me to narrow it down tho.

Character name: Loma Shade
Canon: DC Comics (Young Animal)
Does your character have any guilt over something? Yep. Most of her guilt is around abandoning her ex-boyfriend, Lepuck. Though it's not a heavy guilt, more like in the back of her mind - she wonders what he's doing, hopes he's ok, but doesn't dwell on it heavily until she's reminded of him. She emotionally manipulated him to get what she wanted out of him, and then left him with her problems, and she knew the whole time that she was just fooling with him when he thought they were more serious.
Can Veronica see or hear your character's guilt? Yep!
How will this guilt manifest? It will be a ghost of Lepuck (who by the way is an alien). Tentacles locked up in cuffs, prison uniform on, he'll berate Loma for treating him like a game and profess his hatred of her.
Which ghost will they see? Let's go with Heather Chandler!

Character name: Yusuke Kitagawa
Canon: Persona 5
Does your character have any guilt over something? Yes!
Can Veronica see or hear your character's guilt? Yes!
How will this guilt manifest? Back in July, Yusuke tortured rotten adult and fellow imPort Adachi for Constellation mole reasons, so it'll be mostly related to that. He tied him around a tree, stuck him full of knives, kicked him around a little, and carried his mangled body a few miles to a healer. Just...serious new French extremity bullshit. It could be visions of daggers sinking into flesh, the two of them talking deliberately in Japanese, Yusuke in some kind of blood soaked superhero costume? Or anything related.
Which ghost will they see? Any or all?
